Gingerbread Parties are
THIS WEEK!!!
* The 2nd grade Gingerbread Party is this WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18th, from 12:20-1:10 pm. Parents are invited, but REMEMBER that due to space we may only have 2 adults per 2nd grader and NO YOUNGER SIBLINGS. Thank you for your cooperation!
* Parents will enter the building from the side parking lot into the gym/cafeteria. All guests will need an ID to enter the GINGERBREAD Party.
* There will NOT be a party in the classroom this year, the GINGERBREAD Party is our party. 2nd grade will be building their houses in the cafeteria.
*On Wednesday, students will be eating in classrooms for lunch. Lunch service will still take place, but it will not be a hot tray.

- Thursday 12/19 --- 2nd grade READ-A-THON (Students may bring books from home and a towel or beach towel to lay on while reading --- NO PILLOWS or BLANKETS)
- Friday 12/20 --- 2nd grade Board Games from home AND
- our Behavior Incentive Reward (PJs, Movie, and popcorn treat)

Reading --
In reading class, we will continue our work on summarizing and focusing on characters using Tacky the Penguin books.
Writing--
In writing workshop, we will be publishing our realistic fiction stories that we have been writing. We look forward to sharing them with other 2nd graders later in the week.
We will also be learning about similes this week, and we will making some fun projects to show our simile knowledge.

Math --
This week we will continue to focus on different types of graphs. Students will begin the week by completing various group activities to show how we can analyze pictographs and bar graphs. We will finish off the week by celebrating our learning through educational games and our grade level incentive!
Science --
This week in science we will focus on TEMPERATURE. Students will be discussing the differences between hot and cold. We will also review what we know about the three different types of energy by making a pic collage! Students will finish off the week focusing on sound energy.
