Reading --
This week in reading class, we will be looking and learning all about literary language. We will take a close look at alliteration, repetition, and comparisons in our reading. After noticing various types of literary language in our reading, we will also think about why the author chose to use
these elements in their writing.
We will be reading some books from the
AMELIA BEDILIA series in class, and recognizing the idioms used in the books, as we read.
Check out this helpful site to help you understand idioms:

Writing --
In writing class, we continue to work on POETRY. We will look closely at repetition and the mood in poems. Students will be reading poems by various poets and they will also be working on their own written poems.
HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS --- TUESDAY, January 28th
Students will need to know how to spell the starred words from the 3rd grading period word list. They will need to know how to use each of those words
in a self generated complete sentence.
(If you have misplaced the HF WORD list, please check the
LITERACY and SOCIAL STUDIES tab at the top of this site.)
Math --
We have a Math Test on Wednesday, January 29th
over Graphing, Money, and Time!
A test review was sent home with your child on Friday (1/17).
Please review with your child all the different concepts.
There is a concept page glued in your child's math notebook.
Your student should be bringing their math notebook
home every day in order to study
(but bring it back to school each day).
Initially, students will be working on various activities to
help reinforce their skills for the test.
We will then end the week starting our unit on Measurement!
