Reading --
This week in reading, we are excited to be moving back into FICTION books. We will be starting a new unit about characters. We will be working on paying close attention to our characters as we read a book. We will practice some retelling and making predictions, too.
Writing Workshop --
In writing workshop, we will also be starting a new unit of study. This week we will begin the planning process of creating our own realistic fiction stories. We will be planning out our characters, the problem in the story, and the solution to the problem. After all of our hard work in planning, we will start writing later in the week.
Phonics Workshop--
This week in phonics, we will be busy, busy! We will be looking at using capitals correctly in our writing, and we will learn about homophones too. Later in the week, we will work with homophones that are troublemakers.
Math--
We have a Math Test on Friday, November 15th
over
Addition and Subtaction.
A blue test review was sent home with your child on Friday (11/8).
Please review with your child all the different concepts.
There is a concept page glued in your child's math notebook.
Your student should be bringing their math notebook home every day in order to study
(but bring it back to school each day).
This week we will be strengthening our skills of double digit addition and subtraction.
Students will be working on various activities to help reinforce
what they already know.

Science--
In science, we will continue to learn about different types of forces. We will be discussing roll, spin, and slide. Students will also be investigating the attraction of magnets through the use of various activities. Later in the week, students will start a final project over Force and Motion!
Social Studies--
This week we will be discussing Veteran's Day and other American Holidays.
