Now that we know all the features, we will be diving into nonfiction books.
We will look at lingo this week and work at recognizing and figuring out the key words in our books.
We will also learn that each nonfiction book
is like a gift -- full of surprises!

Students will be READING their
HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
They should be practicing the 2nd grading period words.

Writing & Grammar --
In writing class, we are writing lots of nonfiction books! This week we will pay extra close attention to the audience of our writing pieces, and we will work on ways to HOOK our reader for each chapter.
In grammar, we will be focusing on pronouns.
Phonics --
In phonics, we will be on the look out for SILENT E
in our reading.
We will also work at inventing ways to
hold onto memories.
We will learn that memories can help us hold on to memories about letters and words just like we remember good
memories with family or friends.
